Meet Coach Brett
As an ultra-endurance athlete, I've taken on some huge challenges. When you listen to the podcast or hire me as a coach, this is the guy behind ZenTri:
- Self-supported ULTRAMAN finisher; A 328.8 mile, three day triathlon, culminating with a double marathon on day three.
- First Texan to swim the length of Lake Tahoe. 22 miles long (1 mile longer than the English Channel!) and at 6,300 feet elevation.
- 2015 Silver All World Ironman Athlete (Top 5% of Ironman and 70.3 racers)
- (15x) Ironmans, 9 of them solo self-supported.
- (1x) 100 mile trail run finisher.
- (6x) 50 mile trail run finisher.
- (12x) Half Ironmans. 4:40 PR at Galveston and 10th in AG at Austin.
- 2016, 2014, & 2013 Bronze Ironman All World Athlete (top 10% of Age Group)
- 1st finisher overall BCS Gran Fondo 100 mile bike race, both 2016 and 2017.
- Multiple Age Group Nationals Olympic-distance qualifier and finisher.
- Swam from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco (Escape from Alcatraz qualifier and finisher.)
- Fastest Known Time all-butterfly swim double-crossing of Lake Bryan, TX. (2.4 miles)
- 100 mile mountain bike race finisher.
- Ran Ragnar Relay Texas with only a 4-man team, covering 50 miles per person.
- Dozens of shorter distance triathlons, many with podium finishes for age group.
- High school State Finalist freestyler and swim team captain.
- USAT Certified Triathlon Coach.
- Host of the first, longest-running, and award winning Zen and the Art of Triathlon Podcast.
- Host of annual training camp.
- Father, husband, full-time jobber, and soccer coach.
- Three years U.S. Marine Corps and Navy ROTC and JROTC.
- Eagle Scout and wilderness survival expert.
- Former lifeguard.
