Interview with Andrea Fisher

Hey there all you tri-geeks! This show contains a great interview with pro triathlete Andrea Fisher. Professor Erich and I ask her about what kind of training we should be doing right now for preperation for next year and we also learn a few tricks of the trade. This is one of those moments when you realize how great a sport triathlon is because the pros are so accessable. Don't forget that Andrea does personalized coaching in person and over the internet, so you can contact her at www.texasiron.net.

After the interview, I take you with me on a below-freezing run after an ice storm. It was at night and the ice was beautiful.

I also talk about using Videora to convert videos to email-friendly size. Check it out here. It's free!

Lastly, I mention that people surf on the Great Lakes. Here are some links -

Surfing Magazine write up on Wisconsin (great pics)

"We like it cold," Stack says. It's on rare winter days that the break at Stony Point, Minn., gets so large and "clean" that -- for a few hours -- it can rival any wave on Hawaii's famed North Shore. And it's on days when it's snowing sideways and Chicago's O'Hare Airport is closed that a dedicated Great Lakes surfer might drive half a day for three hours of bliss on a board.

Brett, great podcasts and posts. I am a 10+ year triathlete (IMWI in 2003) and still find it informational and interesting. Question though - the picture with the ice off the roof - is that supposed to scary? Here in Chicago, that is considered nice weather to run/bike in (beats 12" of snow on ground)! Keep up the great podcasts.

Yeah, I actually used to live in Chicago and also visit my brother there often. The pic is supposed to dispell any notions that Texas is nothing more than sand and 120 degree heat. Consider the ice as theme music for winter podcasts. Glad you like the show!

Awesome podcast!! Now that school is over for the term, I can listen to your podcasts again while working out instead of my distance learning stuff. I was sooo happy to hear Andrea's voice! Even though I was just talking with her at the Austin Triathletes holiday party last weekend, I am now far away in below freezing Pittsburgh. I really look forward to the next time she's on as a guest!

PS - The dog who spoke up during the show... was that Cody the dalmation, or was it Andrea's tri-dog, Venus? :)

Hey, Comet! I talk about you on the next show. Stay tuned. That dog was actually Lady, my golden retriever cocker spaniel mix. Her claim to fame is that she can climb trees.

Hey Brett. Just so you know, the big body of water in the background of my pic is the Pacific Ocean. I stopped by the most easterly point of Australia (Byron Bay) when I was on vacation this past September. Took both my bike and surfboard - that was a site. Got a funny story about biking that I'll share with you later.
