It’s all downhill from here

I don't think I could have things any better right now. A sure sign that something terrible will happen soon.
- I bike to work on a chromed out '73 Schwinn Varsity.
- Sometimes I run to work.
- When I run to work, I ride a mile each way to the showers at Gold's Gym on a Sector 9 longboard skateboard. This was gifted to me by a friend for 8 bucks.
- My buddy is always asking me if I want to drive his '67 GTO.
- I ride a BMC TT02 at my local time trials on Wed. nights. I even ride there, which takes all of about 15 minutes.
- My kid loves to tag along for rides on his tow-bike.
It's like I'm living in some kind of weird transportation porn movie. And the whole time I've got theme music provided by my iPod Shuffle. What a wonderful world we live in.
Are there ways you've turned your commuting/transportation into fun? Post them in the comments!

Brett, since I ride the DC Metrorail to work every day I mixed in a bike ride to work on one day. Leave my bike there and ride the train home that evening. The next day I ride the train half way, then run the rest of the way to work and then bike at lunch. The next day I ride the train to work and bike home. I live out of a backpack and pack a bunch of workout and work clothes in my desk drawer at work. My bike and run mileage jumped 20% the first month I started doing it and I caught up on all the pod casts and audio books on my iPod.
Next month I'm going to start jumping off the train earlier and run further to work.
I just walk to work! Although don't start showering me with compliments just yet, it is only a 10 minute walk. I do sometimes have fun on my walk depending on what sort of people are out on the NYC streets that day and what shenanagains they are up to. Sometimes I wish I lived further away so I could bike or run to work too! ;)
Walking to work can be totally crazy in a big city. I've walked the streets of NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco a bunch and the people can be so bizarre! As long as you feel safe, it is so much fun to watch people on foot in urban environments..
I live in London. I ride to work. I run to work. I run/ride to work. I ride/run to work.
I'll do just about anything so that I don't have to catch the Underground with all the other muppets.
I love it when I see other people running the streets or speeding through the traffic on their bikes. This city is our playground and I love it!
Once a week I commute to NYC by bike 42 miles each way. On off days I ride the train, but can walk to the train and from the train to the office.
That leaves enough energy to run or rollerblade in central park at lunch time.
Maybe not as cool as your life, but no complaints.
My husband and I have been riding to work together on M, W, and F (the other two days I work somewhere else and have to drive during the day similar to what your wife does). He "drops me off" and then continues the extra mile to his office. The coolest part is that he takes our dogs (two Brittanies = approx 100 lbs with trailer) to work with him and pulls them in the baby trailer behind his bike. After work, they "pick me up" on their way by. It is a family affair and he has quads of steel to show for it.
@ Arch - Well, I certainly don't think my situation is too cool. I very much would like to live somewhere else. I'm a huge outdoors buff and there's not a "real" park or anything resembling it for hundreds of miles from where I live. I've turned lemons into lemonade and made the best of the situation, though. We've got great roads for cycling around here and riding the countryside is how I get my outdoors fix. I just pretend that the trucks are bears.
I'm in Anchorage right now as I'm writing this. Visiting such beautiful places only to return to College Station, TX is hard on my wilderness heart. :(
BOWWW CHIICKA BOWWWW WOWWWWW ( movie soundtrack)
I read your opening statement and thought: Yep, It's called Hurricane season! Here in FL heat and humidity are starting to limit my outings on the bike, especially because I go with two kids under two in tow. We keep it fun by going early, having snacktime and not having to go to an office at the end of the ride!
Hubby on the other hand has decided to kick it up a notch, thanks to your suggestions to run to work :-)
Enjoyed listening to your podcasts on our last roadtrip, it brought me a little closer to understanding his constant training. Keep up the fabulous work!
