Dude swims Everest, ZenTri swims Lake Travis

How do you swim Everest? No, you don't swim up the mountain; you swim across the lake just below the peak. Lewis Pugh swam 1000 meters in water just above freezing at an altitude of 17,388 ft. Holy crap, that's nuts.
Want to do something crazy but maybe just a tad warmer? Join the ZenTri gang at Lake Travis in Austin this weekend for a lot of open-water swimming! We'll be at Windy Point park, swimming around both mornings, and also cruising way out on paddleboards for some bigger mileage and adventure.
If you want to join in, throw down some comments after this post and we'll make sure we meet up.
Also, there's bound to be some biking and running around Austin after the swimming. I'll be there most of the weekend, so come hang out!

I'm game. I have CapTexTri Oly on Monday, but have been trying to figure out how to sneak another easy 1500 OWS for getting used to the water. The fam and I are driving up Saturday. I may be able to pull away for the Sunday early morning clinic, but it's a bit of a long shot.
Ok, that makes 3 of us. You said you're coming, so now it's LAW. Be there or be broccoli.
Hi Brett,
I'll be in Austin this weekend. My MBA students from Spain are starting a course at McCombs on Tuesday, and I will be with them. I'll arrive late on Saturday (10 hour plane from Madrid + 2hrs from Dallas) and Sunday I'll be picking the bike I've rented to do (not race) the Cap Tex Tri on Monday. So Sunday I'll be able to join you, once I get the bike... is Lake Travis far from Austin itself? The bike shop is at Lamar Street, close to the Cap Tex Tri boxes, and later on Sunday I'll have to check the bike in there.
Anyhow, I figured I could ride to Lake Travis, to be there by noon, after I've collected the bike from the shop (which does not open until 11), and then ride back to the tri start to check the bike in. Does it sound too crazy?
Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of your tribe.
Jaime
Jaime, the Lake is a little far, but not terrible. Would you like me to come pick you up in the morning before the swimming so you can make it on time? We're starting very early (7:30 AM)
That would be awesome! I guess I can swim with you and then head back to the shop later to pick up the bike. I don't have a car in Austin, would you be able to pick me up and then take me back to the civilization? Again, that would be great. And one more thing, will I need a wetsuit? I hear Texas is warm, but I don't know about the lakes... and are there alligators in that area? That would be fun, and would make for some good sprinting efforts...
Perfect. email texafornia at gmail dot com with your location so I can pick you up.
No, no alligators! And the water is 78 degrees. Perfect for a nice cool swim.
