Elevated HR

I did a mega-workout on Saturday, 5.5 hours of swimming, biking and running. 3300 yards, 120 minutes, and 3 hours respectively.  That afternoon, I noticed my heart rate would jump anytime I even got up off the couch.

The next morning, it wasn't high just laying there, but would jump again when I got up and moved around.  I went on my typical 4 hour Sunday bike ride that I enjoy so much and the symptoms got worse that afternoon.  I was planning on going on an afternoon run, but scrapped it.

For me and many others, HR that jumps up when not doing much is a sign of overtraining.  It's a sign that you should take a break for a day or more until it goes away.

Funny thing is, the body is always giving us signals about what to do.  You just have to listen and respond.

Armstrong doing Ironmans, Pray he's not in your Age Group.

Well, he's officially said it. Lance is going to start doing
triathlons again.
I always figured he would because pro cycling is a
young person's game while pros are killing Ironmans well into their
forties. Besides, you can train for them all on your own and quit
having to deal with all the team crap. Who's the team leader? Who cares?

What will be the effect? Expect triathlons to get even more popular.
And go ahead and print out all the race distances on small cards. Give
the cards to every Joe Schmoe who is now interested in triathlons for
the next five minutes of his life and asks you about them - until he
finds out how long one really is.

More Biking Causes Fewer Accidents

This graph shows how there's safety in numbers.  Basically, the more bikers car drivers see, the more cautiously they drive.  Instead of quitting biking because you think it's too dangerous, you should be actively recruiting more people to bike.

Lots more info where this article came from.  Check it out here.
