Google Calendar Actually Being Used

Sounds almost like the title of a news podcast from The Onion.

Just like how a triathlete is always fiddling with his/her HR zones, I tweaked the calendar that you see in the sidebar (scroll dooooowwwwwn) so that it is legible and has content. My workout buddy and I are keeping up with what we do via gCal, so I thought I'd use the Zentri Calendar to post that. I'm also throwing in any events or other items worth mentioning. Keep your eye on it for some cool stuff coming up.
On that note, I'm also using the "delayed posting" feature in Wordpress to publish this a couple of days after I wrote it. Those with higher IQs and lower HRs will now be in the know that I got hopped up on coffee and wrote three posts in a row and just scheduled them to be released slowly like long chain amino acids.

I'm so glad I'm getting so clued in on how to be more productive now that I'm almost 35 and my life is half over. Where was this ingenuity when I was 12? I COULDA BEEN A CONTENDAH!

Austin, Anybody?

I'm going to Austin all day on January 12.  Anybody feel like hitting Barton Springs for a swim, trail running, chowing down at Chuy's, and checking out bike porn at all the tri-shops along Riverside Road?  I'll have one of my newbie tri friends with me, so I want to show him a good time and all that a REAL tri-town has to offer.  Throw down some comments and I'll do what I can to hook up!

Ice Ice Baby!

Buenos Dias, Tri-studs and Studettes! I threw on a mic and went for a run in the ice storm that shut down my part of the country for several days. As I write this, I'm at home because my pool is closed and I can't go to work because my son's school is closed as well. Doesn't keep me from running, though! The show is short and sweet, so just close your eyes and listen to the sounds of running through an ice storm and check out the show notes below.

  • Description of what to wear in 15 degree chill factor and still stay warm.

  • Commentary on fight between Norman Stadler and Chris McCormack.

  • More commentary about other items in Triathlete Magazine.

  • Feeling swanky in my new Nike Pegasus TCs!

Gone Backpackin’

I'm going to the Ozarks to rediscover the Real Manly Man that's been buried under too many layers of spandex and safety yellow reflectors for far too long. This will entail hauling a 50 lb. pack for four days up and down mountains as I dodge ravenous beasts and filter water from raging waterfalls. Pray for my safety as I brave freezing temperatures and...

Ok, I couldn't keep that up for long. Yeah, it's rugged and remote, but I'll be drinking coffee and gourmet snacks out of that 50 lb. pack. There's bears and drunk hunters, but that's probably safer than angry pedestrians and drunk drivers.

I really wish I could be near some sort of media so I can follow all of you studs and studdettes doing the NYC Marathon, but T-Mobile hasn't found a way to bring phone service to the marmots and porcupines of the Ozark Highlands and still make money. Apparently, "critters" have bad credit! Not only is that racist, but it might even be species-ist! I won't find out how everybody did until next Tuesday.

I talk often about using your tri-fitness to really enjoy the off-season. I'm practicing what I preach and I promise to bring back lots of photos and audio from the trip.

All you runners be careful and enjoy that 26.2 mile stroll!
