6 Mile Dub

Happy New Year, Tri-geeks! I went on a 6 mile barefoot run and recorded a podcast while enjoying the perfect weather, playing six "dubbish" songs along the way. Nothing major to report, but here's the playlist. All songs came from the Podsafe Music Network:
Latin Groove : a.b.e. (Anthems of a Bygone Era)
Babylon System : Power Steppers)
mince meat : Dangerdoom)
I am not afraid : Majek Fashek
Gates of Dub : Power Steppers
Search for Zen : Mangomad
Speaking of playlists, does anybody know why podcasts downloaded by Doppler or Nimiq would show up twice in the playlist in iTunes or WMP?

Is that a bottle of Gatorade in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Dude...I was driving to work this morning after a good run workout on the treadmill and was just dying laughing after hearing this.
The show rocks. BTW, I definitely agree about the model from PR on Frappr :P
Woops...that comment was supposed to be for the Shopping podcast.
No problem. we forgive you. I have a couple more auto-generated T.R.I.G.ger insults in the que, but more are always appreciated. Just post them in the comment area and I'll most likely play them.
Hey Brett,
Awesome show. I listen to it on my long trail runs to keep me alert!
You're kid seems awesome. He's going to be a triathlete soon u can just tell.
I think we should all donate to get you a pair of shoes. I mean they are a fantastic idea - to protect your feet!
The "Are your brakes dragging or are you just that slow. joke was awesome. Gonna put that one to good use on my next group ride.
Could you do a few more cycling podcasts as its awesome weather in Australia for cycling and very little headwind (cyclists biggest enemy).
Anyway keep up the awesome work.
Matt
Ha! I went from shoes to no shoes on purpose. There are definitely uses and times for them, but usually they're not necessary. My friends mocked me too at first, but now they're believers. Once you build up a little bit of thick skin, you have complete freedom of motion and no blisters or black toenails from shoes ever again. I still wear shoes on really hot pavement and trail runs, though. Da Vinci himself said the foot is an amazing machine. Most people don't need the extra gadgetry of running shoes, and in fact, it hurts the natural mechanics of your feet's motion and actually leads to more injuries. Check out "the science of trainers" movie and www.runningbarefoot.org for more info. 5.5 million years of evolution and us running without shoes vs. 50 years with? I think barefoot works just fine. Plus you're 10% faster without the weight of the shoes on the ends of your legs. THAT'S a proven fact. ;) Besides, every time I go back to running with shoes, I get injured.
oh yeah, sorry. got off on a tangent. Important thing to remember is that I've logged hundreds of miles barefoot and love it. It actually makes me want to go run instead of dreading it.
Yeah, I'll try to do more cycling podcasts. I love doing those and they're my favorites. I'm riding my bike to work tomorrow, but I don't think I'll have the mic setup properly to record. I'll sleep on it and see what I come up with. I rode to a buddy's house tonight to feed his dog for him and put one of those motion activated blinky LED lights on the valve stem. It was the coolest thing since spandex. It made the wheel look like it had sparklers in it. Everybody needs to get those for riding in the dark.
What a hippie. Next you'll be preaching the wonders of a vegan diet like Scott Jurek the 24hr guy.
"activated blinky LED lights on the valve stem." You should get some spokie dokes happenening on your spokes with neons. You'll be just as cool.
Keep up the good work man.

I just wanted to drop everyone a line now that I finally have internet access in the new flat. Thank you to everyone out there that has passed on any words of encouragement and/or financial support. I really am amazed at how generous people have been to help me go to the Australian Ironman. I still don't know if I'll have to the funding to get there, but every day I keep getting closer and closer.
It looks like it is going to be full of some juicy stories because I am going absolute budget if I go (ie. sleeping in the back of my van.)
Thank you to everyone.
Brett,
Another great podcast. I was on business and running on a treadmill at a hotel with a bunch of New Year's resolutioners while I was listening to your podcast. Your natural way of communicating to your "audience" is great to listen to. During a recent road trip I convinced my girlfriend to listen to "Ironbaby." We both just did Ironman Wisconsin in Sept. It brought back some good and painful memories. Our heads were both nodding as you were struggling with the run. Kind of a been there done that moment. Well, I hooked my girlfriend on your podcasts.
Keep up the great work...I'm still trying to find a way to digitally capture my own training thoughts. Your post on your taping set-up helped. My work had offered to buy me a stand alone digital audio recorder. Do you think those would be as good as your set-up? I can't decide whether or not I should go with your iriver suggestion or do with what my work will buy me. Any thoughts?

I would definitely ask that question on the podcastalley.com forums. I've heard that dedicated recording devices can be really good. Does it record to mp3 so you can easily send it to friends? Does it accept a lapel mic so you can pocket the recorder and walk around hands-free? Maybe you should try the work one and buy an iRiver if it doesn't work well enough.
Great show. Listened to it last night running along in the dark. Crappy head torch, rough trail, cold and damp, but me smiling like a loony. Pretty much danced along to the majek fashek track.
So thanks.

That show was great, While I love you ramblings and no prep shows as they sound familiar and real, this little song mix was good to workout too. A little Zen, A little song and a little Zen, Would not want just these but every 5th one as a workout type podcast...NICE!!!
oh yeah...GO CAV, We should all call in an audio comment and then you could save them and make a GO CAV podcast for him to listen to right before the race???
