Throw out the "If Only."

People often get stuck not able to do what they want today because they are stuck in the past.  If you find yourself repeating the "If only" phrase a lot, this is something you could drop.  Here are some examples...

  • If only I was younger.
  • If only I started training earlier.
  • If only I had a different job.
  • If only I had a different bike.
  • If only I was skinnier.

You see that the list can go on and on.  The real problem is that you're wasting time now by trying to change the past by wishing for a different one in your mind.  You can't change the past.  It's not only impossible, but depressing!  Just hang out with somebody who won't quit talking about bad stuff long ago and see how much fun that is.

Once you simply accept the past (because there really is no other reality) you've just opened up a lot of time and energy to do something in the Now.

Watch yourself and see if you're saying "If only..."  If you are, you've just found a huge opportunity to make a great improvement in your life!
