I've been a vegan for a while, but I don't get all caught up in the "natural diet" and all that crap. In the past, people at to survive or overate to get fat and show status.

I may be wrong, but I'd bet you probably could have thrown a tough old camel steak at one of those gladiators and they would have eaten it like a ravenous wolf.

Ok, I just listened to this podcast the other day and it reminded me of a few things. After going through my first 8 weeks of MBSR I found, like you, that long endurance events could be a form of meditation. When I mentioned this to my instructor, she was happy that I was practicing, but said that the real challenge is the sitting practice. As you said, "I have things to do!" and that's your first clue that you have another bubble to pop. Much like diversity in training, doing the stuff that's hard will make you stronger.
