Mountain Biking at Calavera Hills
Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 9:16AM This video clip is from mountain biking with @mchristian last Saturday. We hit Calavera Hills for nearly 2000 feet of climbing and lots of general awesomeness.
One thing became very clear on this ride: Spending a significant amount of time on rollers makes you a very good climber. The balance required to stay upright on those metal cylinders is directly translateable into not falling over when climbing loose cobble up a steep grade. If you want to get better at climbing off-road, spending time on rollers might be a great investment.
We went out again the next day for a longer ride in the mountains in the desert; video from that adventure tomorrow. :)
Fruit Rolldown
Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 6:40AM I was on a morning run and saw this lime rolling down the gutter. I've seen limes, oranges, and grapefruits doing this several times in SoCal. There's something surreal about fresh fruit being so abundant, it flows down the streets.
