ZenTri 592 - Rich Roll and John Hirsch

I am very excited to have both Ultraman Rich Roll and pro triathlete John Hirsch on this week's show!

Rich joins us to talk about his new book, The PlantPower Way.  We dish on nutrition and his journey to get such a great book published.  He also gives me some tips on how to start training for my self-supported Ultraman, The UltraBaby.

John hops in for a long chat about Israman, Strong Like Bull Camp in Spain, and 50 Women to Kona.  It's a great time!

I also talk about recovering from overtraining in The Training Log, so check it out.  Enjoy!

ZenTri 590 - USAT Rookie of the Year Justin Metzler Dishes on Pro Camp

Newly crowned USAT Rookie of the Year Justin Metzler calls in to tell us all about what training is like at a pro camp.  He tells us the ins and outs, funniest moments, and a little too much about A.J. Baucco's inner thighs. Justin also just raced Puerto Rico 70.3, and posted a great race report.

I also cover the Apple Watch, Lance on Lava, and other triathlon news.

In The Training Log, I detail how I lost 50 lbs. over the years through diet and excercise.  Out of the dozens of tips, I'm sure you can find something new to try out.

Enjoy the show and keep. it. simple!

Armadillo Dash 5k Race Report (From a 10 year-old)

Kai had to write a story for school, so he wrote about racing the Armadillo Dash 5k last weekend.  I was helping with his spelling when I realized this is a race report!  So on the blog it goes...

He got 2nd in the 8-10 AG and 12th overall with a 23:46, which is a 7:40 min/mile pace.  I've got competition!

ZenTri 589 - Challenge Dubai, Zwift, and the Riddle of Carbon

Join in as I review Challenge Dubai, Zwift bike gaming, Stryd's power meter is hitting the market, and Suunto is now connecting to Training Peaks.  Also, Kai and Emily race a local 5k and half marathon.

I gave Kai his first piece of carbon, explaining to him that this is our generation's steel.  Our talk was a lot like this scene from Conan the Barbarian, except with fewer fur coats.

Kai turned on his inner Barbarian and got 2nd at the local 5K.

Kai got 2nd! Wahoo!

We're upgrading our house for one with a bigger training cave. We took the new house plans and imagined what it would be like living there, using Lego characters to make it come to life.  I had a bit of a tragic ending...

Here we are just milling about on the ground floor.

Figuring out how we will actually live in the new house.

Went too fast, flew out the front window, crashed onto the driveway and my head fell off.

Needless to say, those of you that "liked" that last photo are sick.

USAT Rookie of the Year Justin Metzler is scheduled to be on the next show, and I'll cover how I lost 50 lbs. through diet and triathlon.  See you then!
