Holistic Health for the Triathlete

Howdy, folks! This show is an interview with Christine Lynch, a Holistic Health Counselor from NYC. Christine teaches us how to listen to our bodies, eat better foods, and what suppliments are worth your money. This show is ESSENTIAL if you want to become healthier, lose weight, have better memory, and just plain enjoy life a whole lot more. I'm going to use some of her tips and do a follow up phone interview with her in a couple of weeks. You can email her at christinelynch.hhc at gmail.com or check out her website at www.LiveAndEatBetter.com
Better yet, go to the thread about this interview on Triscoop.com and follow the conversation as Christine posts recipies and we try to follow her advice. I've tried a few things she's mentioned and they worked!
- I get a little background on her experience.
- Christine interviews me like I'm a client.
- You have two types of food: Primary and Secondary.
- How to shop for groceries better and cook together as a family.
- Tricks to quit a habit. Could be used for coffee or lots of other things.
- Poor memory is often due to dehydration. You should drink more water and less caffeine and steer clear of refined products.
- Which is better for you, beer or wine? Listen and find out!
- A vegetarian diet can still be a junk food diet.
- What suppliments should you take? MSM, chromium, glucosamine and condroitin... Are they worth it?
- The best thing for you that you probably aren't taking is Cod Liver Oil.
- Rainbow Lite is a very good natural vitamin brand.
- Acai Extreme is a good energy drink.
- Creatine isn't really necessary and can actually be harmful if you take too much. It also swells your muscles up with water. Do you want to be lugging all that water while running?
- Dairy can be a huge problem for asthmatics. And so can wheat and sugar.
- Buying healthier food may cost a little more, but you actually save lots of money in the long run.

Excellent addition of Chris Sweet to team RaceAthlete. You guys are gonna rock IM Wisconsin.
Stay tuned...
Brett, Ahhhhhhh, this Holistic show was aweeeeeesome! I really liked how she treated you like a client; you were exactly right at the end when you were saying dat da zentri army was going to love this show. You made a 2.5 HOUR commute home in the snowy Seattle weather on the bus actually Enjoyable because I thought that the discussion about not liking weak herbal tea was spot-on (could have been talking about me exactly), and I'm lookin forward to trying the Packs-a-Punch-Taste tea in the coming weeks, too. My routine was always to do a tall mug of Decaf, then do a mug of water, and then switch to bland tea and water throughout the rest of the day, but, NOW, to be able to add some mega-taste back into my afternoons is going to be great.
And I really like the discussion about how the frozen meals slip in there perhaps too often. That's me, too, so I really liked her idea bout doing the Easy Receipe stuff, and I love how yr such a family man (your values are just great, by the way) that the cookin time with the fam could really be QT and family memories. Great stuff.
I also really like this winter's shows because of your mileage (more weekly mileage this year) and focus (clear goal of IM Wisconsin); I can really tell the difference in your attitude between this year and last--I think that being jazzed about the sponsorship and also being off caffeine is coming through in your voice (plus the Zen reading/classes are definitely showing in your spirit, too). It's so great to have seen you evolve [since I started listening in Aug05): first no heart rate monitor, then focusing on IM Wisconsin as a long-range goal but still ensuring that you don't overdo it, more focus on the nutrition this off-season, keeping right on track with the coached sessions yet being sure to keep it fun since it's the off-season, and being jazzed about Emily's great off-season with the running, plus great interviews/shows lately (knowing great people like Coach Adam like you said a couple of shows back). By the way, the reason why you've remained my fave podcaster despite the increased competition from other podcasts is because of your voice--it's so much more excited than the other monotone stuff out there (OK, and you're waaaay funnier, too, which really helps). When you have emily on, you guys crack each other up, which is great to listen to.
So, this was the LONG way of saying Thanks for aiding my commute today.
