Brent - like you, I was among the perplexed regarding Under Armour's lack of presence in our beloved sport other than Macca's kit. I have a friend who's an officer with the company who offered the following justification:

They looked at Triathlon, put a toe in the water by signing Macca, and THEN studied the "space".

Unlike other sport categories, two things made Triathlon less profitable:

1. While Triathlon has it's devotees, the target audience's size pales in comparison to more popular sports. General Fitness, casual fashion, Baseball, Football, Hoops, Golf, and even hunting have far more folks who'll pay what's necessary for them to max out on margins.
2. Triathlon has a vast array of companies that make GREAT stuff compared to the fore-mentioned categories. P Izumi, 2XU, Desoto, and Castelli all have well constructed products, and they're getting huge margins on even their lower-end gear.

So, their "template" doesn't compute with Triathlon.

In addition, they keep Macca because their founder (among others) just flat-out loves him and wants to keep him happy.

Hope that helps!
