Suspension for Road Bikes and First Installment of the Great Weight Challenge!

Across the wire yesterday came news of the new Suntour suspension fork for road bikes.

Cannondale used to do this and discontinued it after a few years. Roadies just didn't like the added weight.

With the bike porn out of the way, let's check out some office hilarity. I have two coworkers who are willing to embarrass themselves to victory in a weight loss competition. Bryan and Kerry are trying to out-lose each other and asked if I could judge. I said only if they were going to go all-out and allow me to put it up on the webernets. They agreed and I promptly brought in a digital scale for weekly weigh-ins.

After the initial weigh-in, I was presented with the following contract and public statements:

Unlike Bryan, I will not cry like a bitch when I feel the pain of the workout. I will push right through it and go for the knockout.

I'm gonna go hard right from the start. I hate to run but I plan on going to Lake Bryan and run through the woods. That is better for me. Don't get as bored. Also, will be hitting the weights at Golds and some fitness classes.

That's the plan to win the contest.
Bryan's nickname is gonna be Cookie the Gremlin

Go hard or go home.

Kerry

My nick name for Kerry is Mullet Head and my strategy is two parts:

This 4 month journey I plan on whooping Kerry's ass on a daily bases and I am gonna break him off like a saltine cracker in a bowl of tomato soup!

Looks like we've got a new weekly segment as we watch these two battle it out.

Bike Porn - Rush Hour in the Netherlands and Naked Bike Ride

Here's a nice dose of bike culture.  First up, a time-lapse video of bikes at an intersection in the Netherlands.  If these were cars, just imagine the amount of space, pollution, and wasted time this would create.

Next up, a link to 94 pictures from the Philly Naked Bike Ride.  Looks like a great time!
